FACILITY
AUDITS
Communities new to the sports event travel market need to know what they have in terms of sports facilities and the potential these facilities have to attract competitions and visitors. Once again, we have "been there and done it." For nine years, we ran the Greater Cincinnati Sports & Events Commission. In that time, we attracted more than 30 events which produced in excess of $45 million in direct visitor spending.
DSA understands the differences between facilities suitable for local, regional,
and national competitions. We know which level of competition requires
specialized facilities and equipment. So, when we analyze facilities,
we see what the event owner will see. The result? A study which
focuses on realistic objectives, and specific event owners that could
use your facilities, as is.
Convention & visitors bureaus are finding DSA facility audits very useful in helping them focus on market segments that can work in their market.
Once again, no national averages... only very specific directions as
to where to start (and with whom).
Our facility
audits include a look at (among other items):
- the number and kind of hotel and motel rooms available
- their proximity to competition sites
- what visitors can see and do while in the area (this becomes particularly
important to events that include a family vacation)
Some
of the communities we have studied include:
- Kingsport, Memphis and Williamson County,
TN
- Warren County, Ohio
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Lake County, IL
- Chicago Southland CVB
- Elkhart County, IN
- State College, PA
- Alpharetta, GA
- Evansville, IN
- Arlington, TX
- Fairfax City, VA
- Panama City Beach, FL
- Myrtle Beach, SC
